Matchroom Boxing announced that Kell Brook’s October 24 title defense against Diego Chaves – which was scheduled to air live on Showtime – has been postponed due to a rib injury suffered by Brook. The Showtime telecast is completely cancelled. Showtime announced that it will “consider” coverage of the rescheduled Brook-Chaves bout once event details are finalized.
The Sheffield show will still go ahead with Chris Eubank Jr topping the bill as he makes a final defense of his WBA interim world middleweight title against Tony Jeter. The winner of that bout will then be stripped and Alfonso Blanco will ascend to the WBA interim throne. Also, Gavin McDonnell defends his European bantamweight strap against former world title challenger Jeremy Parodi. Sky Sports will televise in the UK.
Fans who bought tickets will be entitled to full refunds or partial refunds if they’re still attending the show.
